Berlin, November 19, 2010
EUROSOLAR and the World Council for Renewable Energy (WCRE) will host the fifth International Renewable Energy Storage Conference (IRES) in Berlin on 22 - 24 November 2010. 500 experts from Germany and abroad will gather at the Science & Conference Center of the Berlin Seminaris CampusHotel to discuss and debate the technologies, available and in development, for storing electricity and heat from the renewable source. As in previous years, the event will be held in cooperation with EnergyAgency.NRW.
"The importance of modern storage systems for the deployment of renewable energy should not be underestimated", said Lothar Schneider, managing director of EnergyAgency.NRW. "The fluctuations decrease as more storage systems support the electricity grid – and the greater the price stability. This, in turn, is essential to be able to afford the technology to achieve sustainable development", explained Lothar Schneider.
"The storage technologies available are more advanced than generally supposed. A mass market will lead rapidly to more powerful and increasingly cheaper systems, in the same way as the developments in renewable energy", said Irm Pontenagel, managing director of EUROSOLAR.
In 2006 EUROSOLAR and the World Council for Renewable Energy (WCRE) had launched the international conference series intended to contribute to the developments in energy storage and to publicize their application. Following the annual events in previous years, IRES will now take place for the fifth time. Registration and more information at: www.eurosolar.org and www.energieagentur.nrw.de.
